Proverbs Chapter 22 Verse 6
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
John Chapter 3 Verse 16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Isaiah Chapter 9 Verse 6
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Psalm 100
Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the LORD, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.
Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.
MOSES AND PHAROAH
God’s people had been slaves of the Eygptians for four hundred years. Then God called Moses to lead them out of Eygpt.
But Pharoah, the king of the Eygptians, refused to let them go. So God sent ten plagues to punish the Eygptians. The last one was the killing of all the first born of the Eygptians. Then Pharoah let them go.
Later, Pharoah changed his mind and chased them to the seaside.
Now, what could God’s people do?
*Moses held his hand over the sea. The Lord drove back the sea with a strong east wind. And the sea became dry ground and the Israelites went through the sea on dry land. A wall of water was on both sides.
Then all the king’s horses, chariots and chariot drivers followed them into the sea. The Lord made them panic and kept the wheels of the chariots from turning. This made it hard to drive the chariots.
Then the Lord told Moses, “Hold your hand over the sea.” So Moses raised his hand over the sea. And the water became deep again. The Egyptians tried to run from it. But the Lord swept them away into the sea. So all the king’s army that had followed the Israelites into the sea was covered by the water.
But the people of Israel crossed the sea on dry land. So that day the Lord saved the Israelites from the Egyptians.
God’s power is great!
DANIEL IN THE LION’S DEN
More than two thousand years ago, Daniel was an officer serving King Darius of Persia. He served so well that no one could find anything wrong. He was also faithful and prayed to God three times a day.
His enemies wanted to kill him. They tricked King Darius to make an order that no one was allowed to pray except to the king. But Daniel still prayed to God. Daniel’s enemy saw the chance and urged the king to throw Daniel into the lion’s den.
*King Darius did not want to kill Daniel, but he had to give the order. He said to Daniel, “May the God you serve all the time save you!”
King Darius did not eat that night. And he could not sleep.
The next morning King Darius got up early at dawn. He hurried to the lion’s den and called out to Daniel,
“Daniel, servant of the living God! Has your God that you always worship been able to save you from the lions?”
Daniel answered, “My God sent his angel to close the lions’ mouths, because my God knows I am innocent.”
King Darius was very happy. He told his servants to lift Daniel out of the lions’ den. Daniel was not hurt at all because he had trusted in his God.
Then the king threw Daniel’s enemies into the lions’ den. The lions grabbed them and crushed their bones.
The story tells us that if we trust God faithfully, God will protect us.
ZACCHAEUS
This is the story of Zacchaeus.
*Jesus was going through the city of Jericho.
In Jericho there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a wealthy tax collector. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but he was too short to see above the crowd.
He ran ahead to a place where he knew Jesus would come. He climbed a sycamore tree so he could see Jesus.
When Jesus came to that place, he looked up and saw Zacchaeus in the tree. He said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down! I must stay at your house today.”
Zacchaeus came down quickly. He was pleased to have Jesus in his house.
All the people saw this and began to complain, “Look at the kind of man Jesus stays with. Zacchaeus is a sinner!”
But Zacchaeus said to the Lord, “I will give half of my money to the poor. If I have cheated anyone, I will pay that person back four times more!”
Jesus said, “Salvation has come to this house today. This man truly belongs to the family of Abraham. The Son of Man came to find lost people and save them.”
Zacchaeus was totally changed and became a happy man.
