Programme
F.L.Y. Phonics is Jolly Faith’s Jolly Phonics programme in Kowloon Tong — 42 letter sounds through songs, stories and blending, then early reading and writing.
Dare to FLY?! FLY is an engaging and comprehensive phonics course designed to build a strong foundation in literacy for young learners. Our course doesn’t only introduce phonetic principles, but also seamlessly transitions students from basic phonics skills to full literacy.
As the leading Jolly Phonics trainer in Hong Kong, FLY is structured around the Jolly Phonics framework, which focuses on teaching the 42 letter sounds through engaging activities, songs, and stories. Each lesson is crafted to be interactive, encouraging children to develop their phonetics awareness in a playful environment. Key components include:
❑ Sound Recognition: Students learn to identify and articulate sounds, laying the groundwork for effective reading and writing.
❑ Letter Formation: Guided practice in writing letters help reinforce the connection between sounds and their corresponding symbols.
❑ Word Building: Through phonetic games and exercises, students will learn to blend sounds into words, enhancing their decoding skills.
Complementing Jolly Phonics, our course includes the FLY Phonics series. These books serve as a bridge between phonics and literacy, offering:
❑ Story-based Learning: Engaging narratives that incorporate phonetic sounds, allowing students to practice their skills in context.
❑ Progressive Exercises: Activities that gradually increase in complexity, ensuring students build confidence as they advance from simple words to reading and writing full sentences and texts.
❑ Assessment Tools: Built-in assessments help track student progress and identify areas for additional support.
Children are placed by a phonics assessment, not by age alone. Toddlers can start with Bumper Playground (ages 1–3). Learning objectives are age-dependent.
Discover the first 25 phonemes with Inky Mouse, Spotty Snake and Jolly Bee — songs, stories and play before the colour levels. See also S.T.E.P. playgroup.
From phonemes to blending and segmentation. Children hear and say letter sounds, then blend them into simple words and begin to spell by listening for each sound.
From digraphs to sentence reading and writing. Two letters that make one sound (such as sh, ch, th) appear in short sentences, not only in single words.
From digraphs and magic-e words to comprehension. Children read longer words and start to show they understand the story, not only the sounds.
From diphthongs and alternative spellings to composition. Children meet more ways to write the same sound and begin to write short texts of their own.
Independent reading and writing with alternative spellings in longer texts — the bridge from phonics into grammar, creative writing and Cambridge English.

Yes. F.L.Y. is Jolly Faith’s Jolly Phonics programme. Children learn the 42 letter sounds through songs, stories and blending, then move into reading and writing.
Toddlers can begin with Bumper Playground (ages 1–3). F.L.Y. Phonics is designed for kindergarten and early primary children who are ready to learn letter sounds and blending.
We teach at two Kowloon Tong campuses: Beacon Heights Shopping Centre on Lung Ping Road, and G/F, 1 Suffolk Road.
After Bumper playgroup and F.L.Y. STEP, children move through five colour levels: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue. Placement is by phonics assessment, not age alone.
